Mum Puts Tin Foil on Table to Avoid Using the Dishwasher

A mum has swapped plated, knives and forks for tin foil…

Rebecca Cubberly from Telford, Shropshire has decided she is sick of cleaning up after her family and has started wrapping her dinner table in tin foil to avoid having any clean up.

She wraps the entire table top in tin foil and places the food directly on the surface – meaning no piles of dirty dishes at the end of each meal.

The 28-year-old mum of two recently cooked mince and said she just had the chopping board and knife to clean up, as she served the meal directly onto her foiled table and the kids ate with their hands.

Rebecca said:

“We like picky meals and this way is more fun and the clean up afterwards was great, I had a knife and a chopping board to clean,”

“I normally spend about half an hour cleaning up after a meal like that and it’s a long time to spend cooking and cleaning after a long day.”

“It was that easy I told my husband to do bath time and I’d tidy up. I thought, ‘There is no washing up, so I’ll do it tonight and he can have the difficult job of doing bath time’.”

After sharing a photo of her idea, Rebecca received some pro and cons to this method.

Some people pointed out the one-time use waste of the foil, to which Rebecca claimed that she does recycle the foil after use. Adding that her young kids loved it too:

“They ate every last bit, there was nothing left so I literally just had to pick up the tin foil.

“They really enjoyed it. It was something fun. You can take your kids out for half term to a restaurant and it would cost £50 and this cost me a fiver. We had just as much fun as if we’d gone out.

“It was literally sit at the table and help yourselves to anything. It was a half term treat.”

Would you try it?
