Angry Fans of ‘I’m a Celeb’ Threaten to Complain to Ofcom

Many ‘I’m a Celeb’ fans have been left feeling angry and upset, with some even threatening to complain to Ofcom.

People are upset at the TV show producers and the bosses at ITV for allowing disgraced former health secretary Matt Hancock to have been allowed to enter the jungle in the first place.

After we all witnessed CCTV footage of the MP breaking his own rules during the pandemic and cheating on his wife, as well as his “poor handling “of the pandemic as a whole, many fans of the show are left feeling upset and bewildered that he would be rewarded by the TV station and given a fat pay cheque for his participation in the show.

Some fans took to Twitter to share their frustrations:

” Ofcom Allowing #ImACeleb to host the disgraced former health minister and pay him a fortune to appear is a shocking lack of judgement. Many people have been sickened – and to see him laughing and joking with Ant and Dec is insult both to those who died, and to his family.”

“Ofcom why are ITV allowing prominent Tories to have excessive airtime peddling their narrative under guise of a reality/game show? Aren’t there rules about this? #ImACeleb.”

“Made a complaint to Ofcom for the first and only time in my life tonight. I should not be left in tears at the end of an entertainment show. #ImACeleb.”

“ITV shouldn’t have let him become a contestant. I know it’s good for ratings, but the context in which Hancock has risen to fame should surely have discounted him from an entertainment show like ‘I’m a Celebrity’.

“Had he been just another politician, or the coronavirus inquiry (which hasn’t finished yet) completely absolved him of any wrongdoing or incompetence, then things might be different. Otherwise, however, he shouldn’t be trying to make us laugh or feel like we can enact revenge through a Bushtucker trial.”

The whole situation is pretty grotesque and depressing.”

Boy George admitted that he may have quit the show after the politician’s arrival, due to his mums ill health during the pandemic. Speaking to Scarlette Douglas, the singer said:

“You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital. I wasn’t allowed to see her. I thought she was going to die.

“I was tweeting Greenwich hospital going, ‘Please look after my mum.’ I used my name, I was like ‘Please look after my mum.’

“And they did, she was fine… I feel like, I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him.

“It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now. I would have gone when he walked in.

What do you think about his participation in the TV show?
