S Club 7 fans across the UK were left feeling disgruntled after only one member of the iconic pop group made an appearance at a recent sold-out gig.
The highly anticipated reunion tour had been much anticipated by fans, who had hoped to see all seven original members of the band performing their biggest hits.
Sadly, this was not to be, as only one member showed up for the event on the Isle of Wight.
The original lineup of the band included Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens.
Fans had been eagerly anticipating their 25th-anniversary tour, which was set to take place across the UK and Ireland.
However, fans who had purchased tickets to the gig on the Isle of Wight were left feeling disappointed when only two members of the band, Tina Barrett and Bradley McIntosh, were confirmed to perform at a 150-capacity venue in Newport.
After paying £23 for a ticket, fans were hoping to be transported back in time to the early 2000s, but Tina was nowhere to be seen, leaving Bradley to perform alone.
Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment, with one tweeting, “Paid good money to see two members of S Club 7, and only one showed up.”
Another fan added, “Absolutely raging. What a disappointing night. I felt so bad for Bradley.”
A third called the situation a “let-down” and accused the band of taking their money despite not delivering what they had promised.
A spokesperson for the venue, Wyld, explained that the situation was out of their hands and that when they had booked the show, there was no confirmation of an S Club 7 reunion.
They went on to explain that contractual obligations meant that the band wasn’t able to perform the show that had been booked and sold tickets to, and that unhappy customers would be entitled to a 50% refund for the inconvenience.
Despite this disappointment, fans can still look forward to the official reunion tour, which is set to take place later this year.
The band released a statement expressing their excitement about the reunion, saying, “After eight years, it feels amazing to announce that we’re reuniting and performing together again.” They added, “Music and friendship have always been at the core of everything that we’ve ever done. We hope everyone can join us for one big party.”
Awkward…
