The anticipation is high for this years’ Christmas episode of BBC’s EastEnders, with fans already speculating on the identity of Sharon’s groom.
Despite her recent reconciliation with Keanu, some viewers believe that he may not be the one standing at the altar.
The episode is expected to feature a twist, with one male character set to meet his demise.
In the teaser for the Christmas episode, six women – Denise, Kathy, Linda, Sharon, Stacey, and Suki – can be seen gathered around a body. Sharon delivers the news that the man is dead, but it remains unknown if the death was an accident or the result of foul play. The twist, combined with the wedding, has led many to theorize about the groom’s identity.
While Keanu seems like the obvious choice, recent events in the show have thrown this into question. Despite getting back together with Sharon, Keanu has become embroiled in a drugs gang after agreeing to transport narcotics for Ravi’s boss. However, Sharon has remained by his side, visiting him in the hospital and even being comforted by Phil Mitchell during a tense confrontation with Keanu’s family. Some viewers have speculated that Phil and Sharon’s interactions could hint at a romantic connection between the two.
Fans have taken to social media to express their theories about Sharon’s upcoming nuptials. EastEnders showrunner Chris Clenshaw has promised “twists and turns” in the lead-up to Sharon’s wedding. “Just as quickly as Sharon and Keanu reunited, she discovered that he and Sam have history too, leaving Sharon newly single. However, as we know, Sharon’s wearing a wedding dress at Christmas, so watch out for many twists, turns, and plenty of heartbreak along the way,” he said earlier this year.
As the EastEnders Christmas episode draws closer, viewers will be eager to find out who Sharon will ultimately choose to marry – and whether or not the groom will meet an untimely end.
