Love Island Star Landed Role in Barbie Movie thanks to Dating Show Superfan Margot Robbie

Former Love Island star Chris Taylor recently shared an exciting revelation about his unexpected casting in the upcoming Barbie film, produced by the talented Australian actress Margot Robbie, who also portrays the iconic titular character. Chris, a self-confessed Love Island fanatic, found himself at the Barbie movie’s London premiere on July 12, where he was seen taking selfies with fellow ex-islanders Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Davide Sanclimenti, and Liberty Poole.

During a recent interview, Chris disclosed the intriguing chain of events that led to his cameo appearance in the Barbie movie. It all started when his former Love Island housemates, Michael Griffiths and Jordan Hames, attended the premiere of Margot Robbie’s 2020 DC Comics movie, “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn.” At the event, they had the chance to meet Margot, who turned out to be a devoted Love Island viewer.

As Chris explained, “The lads went to a premiere. They met Margot, and then afterwards Margot shouted them and said, ‘Come to the after party!’ cause she’s obsessed with Love Island right.” Excited about the opportunity, Chris, who was living with his former housemates at the time, eagerly joined the after party. Margot recognized them all from the show and even remembered Chris, approaching him with a friendly greeting.

Thrilled and puzzled by the encounter, Chris recalled, “So she comes up to me like ‘Chris!’ and I’m like, ‘What the f*** is going on?’ I dunno, she must have just remembered me from then.” Margot’s fondness for the reality dating show proved to be the catalyst for an unexpected turn of events.

During the Barbie movie premiere, Margot happily informed Chris that his cameo had made the final cut, a moment he cherished as a testament to their chance meeting and shared love for Love Island.

In the film, Chris’s character delivers the line: “And the Nobel prize for horses goes to Ken!” A fun and lighthearted role that adds an extra layer of delight to the highly-anticipated Barbie movie.

Margot Robbie’s passion for Love Island has been well-documented. In 2021, she openly discussed her fascination with the show, describing it as a significant part of her life. She expressed her admiration for the relationships and friendships that unfold on-screen, singling out season three as her favourite and naming Olivia Atwood from season three and Maura Higgins from season five as her all-time favourite contestants.

With the Barbie movie set to hit cinemas on July 21, fans of both Margot Robbie and Love Island will have something to look forward to. The unexpected connection between the reality dating show and the Barbie film has sparked excitement among fans, showcasing how chance encounters and shared interests can lead to unique opportunities in the world of entertainment.

As Chris Taylor’s cameo in Barbie adds a delightful twist to the movie, audiences can anticipate a fun and enjoyable experience at the theaters.
