Love Island’s Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown has unveiled a behind-the-scenes secret from the villa, where a couple decided to end their relationship off camera. According to Zara, the pair broke up on an “off day,” which is a day when the cameras are not rolling. As a result, the producers had to intervene and request them to have the breakup conversation again, but this time, on camera, to keep ITV viewers updated.
Zara explained that during these off days, the Islanders are asked not to discuss anything related to the show, and they focus on topics about their personal lives and other random subjects. To ensure viewers at home were aware of the couple’s split, the producers needed them to reenact the breakup in front of the cameras.
“It wasn’t from my series, apparently it was one of the early ones, but yeah,” Zara revealed, shedding light on the incident that occurred in a past season.
In addition to this revelation, Zara also opened up about a heated off-air argument that took place between her and Tom Clare during their time on the ITV villa. The disagreement was sparked by Tom’s jealousy when he saw Zara chatting with another Islander named Shaq. While the argument wasn’t aired on television, Zara believes it would have provided important context for viewers as to why their relationship began to fade.
“He said I was chatting to Shaq to try to make him jealous. But to me, it just showed me how much he did like me, as he was getting really jealous,” Zara shared about the disagreement.

Initially, things between them seemed great, and they even discussed plans of going to Dubai together. However, after the argument, Zara’s feelings changed, and she became disenchanted with men who treated her poorly.
