Former Love Island contestant Scott Van Der Sluis has left the door ajar for a possible revival of his connection with fellow co-star Catherine Agbaje.
Despite not overtly confirming the speculation, Scott’s reluctance to dismiss the rumours suggests that there might still be a spark between him and Catherine, evident from their cozy interactions post their Love Island journey. Although the two were initially coupled up on the show, the dynamics shifted after the post-Casa Amor recoupling, which saw Catherine returning with Elom Ahlijah-Wilson, leaving Scott standing alone.
However, fate seemed to have other plans as things didn’t unfold as expected with Elom, leaving room for a potential resurgence of feelings between Catherine and Scott. Scott delved into his regrets from his time in the villa and shared what he wished he had conveyed to Catherine before Casa Amor.
Reflecting on his Love Island experience, Scott revealed that there were moments that he found less enjoyable, particularly when his fellow Islanders questioned the authenticity of his feelings for Catherine. He expressed his annoyance about people discussing their opinions behind his back, which prompted him to gather everyone around the fire pit to address the matter openly.
Scott acknowledged the challenges of navigating relationships within a highly opinionated environment and acknowledged that external factors played a role in influencing Catherine’s decisions. He revealed that people had influenced Catherine’s mindset before Casa Amor, leading her to pursue a connection with Elom instead.
When asked about any potential regrets regarding his interaction with Catherine, Scott admitted that he wished he had communicated his feelings more explicitly before Casa Amor. He also expressed a desire to have engaged more with Gabby Jeffery during the Casa Amor phase, admitting that he had been somewhat reserved at the time.
Regarding the possibility of reconciling with Catherine, Scott intriguingly responded with “Never say never.” He further elaborated that he and Catherine care for each other and maintain a strong friendship. However, he subtly shifted the conversation to a different topic, leaving room for speculation.
Scott also shared insights into his other romantic endeavours on the show. After Catherine’s departure, he explored a connection with Abi Moores, who had previously been involved with Mitch Taylor. Their bond evolved into a show couple after Mitch’s change of heart towards Ella B (Barnes). Despite this, Scott realised that he only saw Abi as a friend and made that clear to her before they left the villa.
As Scott’s enigmatic responses stir curiosity about the potential for a rekindled romance, Love Island fans await developments that could unfold in the unpredictable world of reality TV relationships.
