Married At First Sight star JJ Slater has addressed rumours about his relationship with co-star Ella Morgan, confirming that they did, in fact, have a physical relationship despite their initial denial. Initially paired with Bianca Petronzi on the E4 show, JJ and Ella sparked a romance that surprised both fans and co-stars.
Ella Morgan, the first transgender bride in MAFS history, made headlines as her relationship with JJ unfolded during the eighth season of the series. Although their journey faced initial challenges, their relationship garnered widespread support from viewers.
JJ Slater has now set the record straight, revealing that he and Ella took their relationship to a more intimate level during homestay week, even though this development was not aired on the show. JJ clarified that they had consulted each other to ensure they were comfortable discussing their s*x life publicly.
He explained the decision, stating, “We don’t want anything that’s not true to be out there, so now I feel the need to put the record straight… We did take our relationship to the next level. It was during my homestay… the pressure was off a little bit because we were outside of the bubble and there wasn’t anyone else around us with their opinions.”
JJ emphasised that he and Ella felt it was the right time for their relationship to progress intimately. He shared, “We had a bit of time away, and it was a reassuring time in our relationship.” While he acknowledged that the moment felt “natural and right,” JJ clarified that they did not rush into taking that significant step.
Addressing Ella’s transgender identity, JJ expressed his support, stating, “I don’t see it as a big thing, Ella is like any other woman I have ever been with, and I see Ella as a woman.” He defended Ella against transphobic comments and emphasised that her transition did not faze him.
JJ previously responded to transphobic remarks on TikTok, making it clear that he sees Ella as a woman and not altering his s*xual orientation. He received support from fellow MAFS co-star Luke Worley, who encouraged private discussions for education rather than public criticism.
Despite their strong connection during the series, JJ and Ella are no longer together, having made the decision to part ways at the final vow ceremony of the season.
