Richard Gadd is on Piers Morgan’s interview wish list following the TV host’s high-profile conversation with the real “Martha” from Baby Reindeer earlier this month.
Fiona Harvey stepped out of the shadows created by the Netflix global sensation and into the public eye on May 9 during a live interview with Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored on YouTube. Since then, the nearly hour-long interview has garnered 12 million views on Morgan’s YouTube channel.
Harvey claims to be the woman Gadd dubbed “Martha Scott” in Baby Reindeer. “Martha” allegedly stalked Gadd over four years while he was a struggling stand-up comedian and bartender—one of the personal traumas depicted in the Netflix adaptation.
Gadd, who portrays himself but is renamed Donny Dunn in Baby Reindeer, is accompanied by Jessica Gunning, who plays Martha. Gadd has mentioned in interviews that Baby Reindeer has been fictionalised for Netflix, but “emotionally, it’s all 100% true.”
Following the opening scene in Episode 1 of Baby Reindeer, the line “This is a true story” appears on the screen. Baby Reindeer is based on Gadd’s 2019 UK one-man autobiographical stage show of the same name.
