Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist Emma Jones Dies, Aged 32

Emma Jones, a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, has died at the age of 32 following a fight with cancer.

The singer, originally from Wigton in Cumbria, passed away in February. A post on her Facebook page on February 24 confirmed her death, explaining she had ovarian cancer that likely metastasised to other organs. “I’m sorry to have to tell you that Emma Jones has died. She died on Valentine’s Day after being diagnosed with multiple organ cancer,” the post read. “The doctor thinks it began as ovarian cancer and spread to other organs.”

John Hastings, her former partner, paid tribute to her “personality, smile and gorgeous voice.”

During her funeral at Christ Church in Allonby, John delivered a heartfelt eulogy (via News and Star), saying, “Like everyone else in Cumbria, I was both proud and touched by her exploits on Britain’s Got Talent, when she overcame her nerves to wow the judges and viewers. The applause made her cry, but I knew these were good tears. It’s a great shame that we will never see her again, but we still have her performances online to cherish and fondly remember her by.”

Jones captivated the judges on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 with her audition performance of ‘Ave Maria’.

Following the news of her passing, fans of Britain’s Got Talent expressed their condolences. One fan wrote on Facebook, “I had just rewatched her BGT audition. Her performance of ‘Ave Maria’ was so pure and lovely. She was a tender soul with an amazing gift. What a tragic loss. Rest with the angels, beautiful girl.”

Another commented, “So sad to learn of her recent passing, having just seen her BGT audition today for the first time and been moved to tears by her beautiful voice. May she rest peacefully.”
