Love Island’s Jess reveals ‘real reason’ for Ronnie’s disastrous recoupling speech as she shares surprise theory

Jess White from Love Island has shared her thoughts on why her partner Ronnie Vint’s recoupling speech was so awkward, suggesting it may have been due to his reluctance to appear overly sentimental.

In an interview with host Maya Jama during the latest episode of Aftersun, Jess expressed her frustration with Ronnie’s speech, which failed to include any compliments for her. She questioned his choice of words, especially given her efforts to describe him positively. “I don’t think he said one nice thing, I gave him at least five description words. I was wearing a feather dress for God’s sake,” she remarked.

When asked to speculate on Ronnie’s reasoning, Jess suggested that he might have felt pressure not to seem too emotional or to stand out compared to the other boys. She reasoned, “I think it’s because he didn’t know what all the boys were going to say and he didn’t want to come across like a melt and held himself back and looked like an idiot when all the boys gave lovely speeches.” Her comments were met with cheers from the audience, indicating agreement.

During the conversation, Jess also hinted at potential interest in fellow contestant Sean Stone, describing him as her ideal man on paper, hinting at possible developments in their relationship.

However, the situation between Jess and Ronnie became more complicated when Ronnie willingly kissed Harriett Blackmore during a game. This move added further tension to Jess’s already strained relationship with Ronnie, especially after her previous confrontation with him regarding his speech.

Despite Ronnie’s apology and explanation that he struggles with expressing himself verbally, Jess remained skeptical of his intentions, especially after observing his interactions with Harriett. Reflecting on Ronnie’s behaviour, Jess expressed her frustration, emphasising that Ronnie had not even bothered to inquire about her feelings amidst his interactions with Harriett.
