Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Queen is under medical supervision after doctors expressed concern for her health.
Her Majesty’s immediate family have all been informed that she will be monitored in her Balmoral home.
The news comes after Queen Elizabeth cancelled a number of commitments including a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday after she was ordered her to rest by doctors.
Buckingham Palace announced:
‘Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
‘The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.’
The country’s new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, was quick to tweet that her thoughts are with the Queen.
She tweeted:
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
