Love Island fans were left heartbroken when Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda, one of the couples from series 9, confirmed that they have called it quits less than a month after the show ended.
The couple joins Casey O’Gorman and Rosie Seabrook, and Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown and Jordan Odofin as the third couple from the winter 2023 series to break up.
A representative for Olivia confirmed the news, stating that it was a mutual decision to end their relationship, saying, “Things weren’t the same between Olivia and Maxwell after they left the villa. Life has been hectic and they both decided it was best to end things.”
Olivia, 28, and Maxwell, 23, were both involved in a lot of work projects following their time on the show.
The representative revealed that Olivia is excited to focus on her upcoming work commitments, including a role in the next Fast & Furious movie, and there are no hard feelings between the former couple.
Maxwell had previously sparked rumours about their break-up after he traveled to Mexico without Olivia.
However, he reassured his followers on an Instagram Live that they were “doing great” just a few days ago.
Olivia had also addressed the rumours about their split two weeks ago while appearing on the Not My Bagg podcast with Gogglebox stars Joe and George Baggs, saying, “There’s been rumours that we split up, I went to the football and he went to an event, but no, we’re literally fine.”
Since the confirmation of their split, both Olivia and Maxwell have deleted all traces of each other from their Instagram feeds, and Olivia has also unfollowed her former beau.
However, they have not made any public statements about the break-up.
Fans of the show expressed their sadness over the split and offered their support to both Olivia and Maxwell.
One fan commented, “Another Love Island couple bites the dust. I hope they’re both okay,” while another said, “I thought Olivia and Maxwell were one of the strongest couples. It’s such a shame.”
