Married at First Sight Australia star Andrea ‘Andie’ Thompson has clarified her relationship with Timothy Smith, stating they are just friends.
The pair appeared on the 11th season of the reality show, where they were matched with Richard Sauerman and Lucinda Light, respectively.
Both couples decided to break up before their final vows, but Andie and Lucinda developed a lasting friendship during the show.
After Lucinda and Timothy’s relationship didn’t work out, rumours began circulating that Timothy and Andie had started a romantic relationship. However, Andie addressed these rumours in an Instagram post, confirming they are strictly friends.
“Here, in a big car with this guy,” Andie said in a video as she showed Timothy, who added, “What’s up people?” Andie continued, “We’re about to go shopping because that’s what you do with your friends,” with Timothy chiming in that they were “friends for life.”
In the caption, Andie further explained: “Here to hang out! Friends who don’t kiss on the lips, since you’re all asking… This man has been my rock and couldn’t imagine this journey without him and Lulu xxx @timsmith_melbourne #mafs #mafsaustralia #friends.”
This post followed fans’ hopes that Timothy would reconcile with Lucinda after the reunion episode, but she also confirmed that they are just good friends.
“Truly there is no romantic potential there. I’ve squeezed out the ideas around that one, and I’m looking for something very different in my life. And he absolutely is too,” said Lucinda.
“We have a hoot together; there’s a lot of chemistry in our relationship from that three-month immersion. When we hung out two or three weeks ago, we got spoiled in this restaurant in Melbourne and the banter was just outrageous. We had tears in our eyes. We have a lot of fun.”
