Yet, the plot thickens when youngest sibling Harper Beckham, just 14 years old, sets the scene by appearing unannounced at her brother Brooklyn Beckham’s chic Beverly Hills haunt, letter in hand, right in the middle of what seems to be a family feud.
For those living under a rock, the Beckhams were in Los Angeles recently, where the legendary footballer-turned-fashion tycoon, David Beckham, was the man of the hour. He was immortalised on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on a sunshine-filled Friday, 12th June. And while Harper was there in the crowd along with her fabulously famous family — power couple David and Victoria, and brothers Romeo and Cruz — she also made a dash to elder brother Brooklyn’s doorstep. But don’t get too excited about a potential peace offering just yet.
According to HELLO! magazine, Harper’s unexpected house call was a well-timed publicized event rather than a heartwarming familial gesture. A rep for Brooklyn, 27, and his actress wife, Nicola Peltz, 31, minced no words, remarking rather tartly that the presence of paparazzi as young Harper turned up was no happy accident. “That photographers were in place as the letter was hand-delivered says it all – this was choreographed for the cameras,” the spokesperson announced. Ouch!
When the ceremony finally hit the ground running, it was all smiles and glitz. Despite the familial frostiness, David’s heartfelt speech included tributes to all his adorable children, lavishing praise on Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and young Harper. Showing no signs of underlying tension, he took a moment during his emotional Walk of Fame acceptance speech to thank his entire family, describing them as his ultimate inspiration. He extolled, “Most of all, I want to thank my incredible family. My beautiful children, who are the reason that I get out of the bed in the morning.”
And with a nod to the future, David got a bit misty-eyed, envisioning a legacy of dreams shared on the very same starry sidewalks: “Kids – I’m going to get emotional now – I hope you bring my grandchildren here one day and tell them about a boy who dreamed big.” A tearjerker, if you ask us!
