Maya Jama ‘Angers ITV Bosses’ With Photo Before Love Island Return

Maya Jama’s recent meeting with Netflix has sparked speculation about her future endeavours, especially with Love Island’s return approaching next month.

The TV presenter raised eyebrows this week by sharing a photo of a cup of tea in a Netflix-branded mug, seemingly taken during a meeting.

While Maya has become a beloved figure on ITV since taking over as Love Island host in January 2023, the photo suggests she remains open to opportunities elsewhere.

A source revealed to The Sun: “The photo appeared innocent at first glance, just a cup of tea on a boardroom table. But it sent shockwaves through ITV executives.”

“She’s a highly sought-after talent and has every right to explore options. Maya’s meeting with Netflix made it clear she’s receptive to offers,” the insider added.

Maya’s unique appeal has made her invaluable to ITV, particularly for shows like Love Island, where she’s significantly boosted viewership among younger demographics since replacing Laura Whitmore.

The source continued: “Maya brings something special to the screen, a magnetism that’s hard to find. ITV knows her worth, but so does Netflix.”

The recent trend of ITV stars joining Netflix, including Emma Willis, Holly Willoughby, and Amanda Holden, has further fuelled speculation about Maya’s future.

Emma Willis is set to host the UK version of Love Is Blind alongside her husband Matt Willis, while Holly Willoughby will host Bear Hunt, a reality show filmed in Costa Rica. Amanda Holden is also joining Netflix for a new dating show, Cheaters: Unfinished Business.

“While they still value their roles at ITV, the allure of Netflix’s global platform and generous compensation is undeniable,” the source explained. “The landscape is changing, and stars are seizing opportunities that come their way.”
