Advert for Undertaker Mysteriously Disappears Mid-Journey on Queen’s Hearse

An advert promoting the company chosen to use for the hearse carrying Queen Elizabeth II mysteriously disappeared mid-journey.

On Sunday 11 September, the Queen’s coffin traveled from her estate at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland to the royal Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

The 96-year-old monarch sadly passed on Thursday last week at her beloved home in Scotland, where she often spent the summer months every year.

A procession was assembled, carrying the Queen’s body from her home in Scotland to the royal palace in Edinburgh.

Locals and tourists lined the streets in their thousands to catch one last glimpse of the Queen before she is taken to Westminster Abbey for the funeral on Monday September 19.

Members of the public will be able to pay their respects at the lying-in-state at the Palace of Westminster in the capital from Wednesday evening.

En route to Holyroodhouse, the Queen was carried in a black mercedes with a procession of guards as well as her four children, King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward walking behind the hearse.

Onlookers were quick to notice a sticker reading ‘William Purves’ – the undertaker company – on the side of the hearse, obstructing the view of her Majesty’s coffin.

At some point in the journey, the sticker was removed. See below:

Many online commented that the company using the monarchs passing as a way to advertise to the masses was ‘tasteless’.

King Charles III took over as monarch the moment Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday 8 September 2022.
