Love Island confirms summer start date as first trailer for 2024 series drops

Love Island fans, get ready to set your schedules because the countdown to the 11th series of the beloved ITV2 reality show has officially begun. A teaser for the upcoming season, hosted by Maya Jama, has been unleashed, heralding the show’s return in June.

In the tantalising preview, an enigmatic figure clad in a silver boiler suit wields a flamethrower against the backdrop of an electric guitar riff. The clip crescendos with a reimagined version of Love Island’s theme song, infused with a rock twist, as the flamethrower spells out a message: “This summer’s going to be 🔥.”

The previous All Star series of Love Island, which crowned Tom Clare and Molly Smith as winners, stands as the year’s top digital program thus far. It also drew the largest commercial audience aged 16-34, with 1.4 million viewers. The launch episode alone captivated over 3.4 million viewers.

Maya Jama returns to helm the new season, succeeding Laura Whitmore, who took over in 2022 following the tenure of the late Caroline Flack.

Paul Mortimer, ITV2’s Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, stated, “Following the hugely successful ‘All Stars’ version this winter, we’re delighted to be returning to the iconic villa in Mallorca for another summer season of the biggest reality show on television. After 10 series, I’m delighted to say that this year’s cast of Islanders is as amazing as ever and I can’t wait to see the entertainment and drama they’ll bring to, what will be, a somewhat re-vamped show.”
