Woman Who Text Late Dad’s Phone for Four Years Gets a Response

A woman who sent a text message to her late dad’s mobile phone for four years got a reply on the fourth anniversary of his death.

23-year-old Chastity Patterson from Arkansas had been messaging her father, Jason Ligons’ old number since he died in a car accident back in August 2014.

She explained during a TV interview that she was baffled to have received a response and initially thought it was someone’s idea of a cruel joke or prank.

Patterson went on to say that she was getting ready to delete the message she had sent the number when she noticed the bubble pop up, indicating that someone was typing.

The 23-year-old then went on to take a screenshot of the response and shared it as a post on her Facebook page, which then went viral.

On the day before the four year anniversary, Patterson wrote:

“Hey Dad, it’s ME. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day again!”

She went on to detail her achievements and hardships over the four year period since she had lost her father. Explaining that she beat cancer and graduated from college with honours.

The last thing she expected was a response.

However, a very kind citizen did reply with a wonderful encouraging message. A man named Brad who also lost someone very dear to him and who got comfort from Chastity’s messages.

Brad said:

“You are an extraordinary woman and I wish my daughter would have become the woman you are, thank you for your everyday updates, you remind me that there is a God and it wasn’t his fault that my little girl is gone,”

“He gave me you, my little angel and I knew this day was coming. Everything will be okay, you to push yourself everyday and shine the light God gave you. I’m sorry you have to go through this, but if it makes it any better, I am very proud of you.”
